Are you feeling drawn to working with our families? Is the Lord tugging at your heartstrings for His children? We provide this page to help you discern if and how you can be a part of the Holy Spirit Faith Formation Team.
We suggest you begin by prayerfully reading the scripture quoted below:
As a body is one though it has many parts, and all the parts of the body, though many, are one body, so also Christ. For in one Spirit we were all baptized into one body, whether Jews or Greeks, slaves or free persons, and we were all given to drink of one Spirit.
Now the body is not a single part, but many. If a foot should say, “Because I am not a hand I do not belong to the body,” it does not for this reason belong any less to the body. Or if an ear should say, “Because I am not an eye I do not belong to the body,” it does not for this reason belong any less to the body. If the whole body were an eye, where would the hearing be? If the whole body were hearing, where would the sense of smell be? But as it is, God placed the parts, each one of them, in the body as he intended. If they were all one part, where would the body be? But as it is, there are many parts, yet one body. The eye cannot say to the hand, “I do not need you,” nor again the head to the feet, “I do not need you.” Indeed, the parts of the body that seem to be weaker are all the more necessary, and those parts of the body that we consider less honorable we surround with greater honor, and our less presentable parts are treated with greater propriety, whereas our more presentable parts do not need this. But God has so constructed the body as to give greater honor to a part that is without it, so that there may be no division in the body, but that the parts may have the same concern for one another. If [one] part suffers, all the parts suffer with it; if one part is honored, all the parts share its joy." ~1 Corinthians 12:14-26
As with the full body of Christ, our Faith Formation Team has many parts. Each requiring different talents and time commitments but all vital to the whole.

Hands-on assistance with events: before, during and/or after.List Item 1
Be a part of a vital pool of extra hands to help set up, monitor and/or clean up at any of the many special events on our Catechetical Calendar. Give as little or as much time as your calendar allows. This commitment involves no planning or leadership responsibilities. It is the easiest way to get involved and your extra hands will be of tremendous help to us!

Set Up and Break Down CrewList Item 2
Occasionally we will need assistance with setting up tables and chairs before class in the morning/evening. We will also need a crew to put tables and chairs away after classes have ended. More hands mean less time. A great way to be a BIG help with just a small time commitment.

Assist in Classroom with CatechistList Item 3
Be an extra person in the classroom to assist the head Catechist. Sometimes simply to meet the Virtus requirement of two adults present, or perhaps to do more. You would meet or chat on the phone with the Catechist to get details about what they are looking for you to do. Some classroom experience is helpful but not required. This could be a good way for you to explore if classroom work is for you.

Substitute CatechistList Item 4
Step in to teach when one of our regular catechists is unable to be there. Many people who have taught before find this a great way to help us. They still get to enjoy an occasional teaching experience without the full commitment to being a Catechist. No person can be everywhere they are needed at all times, so good substitutes are vital and greatly appreciated members of our team.

Catechist
Catechists take on a special role in bearing witness to the joy of the Gospel and inviting their students to join them in doing so. This is not simply a role for which one volunteers or is trained, it is a calling from Our Father to which one answers lovingly, "Here I am Lord." So in addition to all the skills needed to plan and execute lessons, Catechists need to demonstrate in their lifestyle that the faith is alive and well within them.
We have a wonderful team of people who clearly love the Lord and have the requisite skills to bring that love into a classroom setting.
As with any teaching position, candidates must go through an approval process to assure the best experience for our children.

Advisory Board
The Advisory Board meets three times a year, or as needed, to offer advice to the Pastor and Director of Faith Formation on how best to meet the needs of our families in living life Catholic. Members of this board are parents of children currently enrolled in our program at various stages, and others from our team. The principal goal is that our Faith Formation team never loses understanding of the current challenges, needs, and joys of family life so that our program is always responsive and most efficacious.
